STOPPING BY WOODS ON A SNOWY EVENING

One touch of nature makes the whole world kin“.

This poem is a masterpiece of Robert Frost, a well known American poet. His poetry focuses on the theme of nature. This poem points out the exciting beauty of nature, and at the same time hints at the need to carry on with the daily affairs of life. The scene tells that it is the coldest and darkest night of the year. The snow is falling in this peaceful and silent forest. The poet is standing there with his little horse. No one can be seen around except them. The horse feels strange because neither there is a shelter place nor a farmhouse near. Its master is fully absorbed in the beauty of this scene. He has entered the world of fantasy. The horse feels that they are at a wrong place at wrong time. So, it shakes its bell to get the attention of its master. The sound of the bell brings the master back to real life. He remembers that he has to perform a number of tasks before going to bed. Therefore, he leaves and heads to his destination.                                                                          “Never mind your happiness, do your duty”.                                    We have been taught a valuable lesson in this poem that world of fantasy is very inviting, but one must maintain balance between the world of reality and imagination.
